Washington, D.C. — The Value Our Families campaign reacted with dismay to reports of the Trump administration’s efforts to implement a senseless and cruel immigration crackdown targeting asylum seekers, Afghan nationals, refugees, and other immigrants. 

This is collective punishment of the worst kind, guided by fear rather than welcome. The Value Our Families campaign stands with all immigrants affected by these new restrictions and condemns the divisive and hateful anti-immigrant rhetoric emanating from the White House. 

These attacks are a continuation of efforts by the Trump administration to cut immigrants off from their families. There can be no equivocating: It is wholly un-American and flies in the face of family values to bar people from reuniting with loved ones based on where they’re from. We can and must do better. Americans deserve an immigration system that promotes freedom and unity for all families.
